Bovey Castle has 60 rooms and two DDA compliant bedrooms, with wet rooms, designed for wheelchair users and those with additional support needs. The main hotel is Grade II listed, which requires it to be properly preserved to enable retention of the building’s many original features and designs which restricts alterations to current standards and guidelines. Bovey Castle understands that every customer has different needs and we aim to make our hotel facilities available and accessible to all of our guests equally. In instances where this is not possible, we will endeavour to offer a suitable alternative.
At the hotel there are multiple disabled parking spaces within closer access to the main entrance. Porters are available who will unload your luggage and a concierge can park your car for you. This will remain parked for the duration of your stay or available to you on request.
There are two steps from the car park into the main lobby and a disabled ramp is provided for wheelchair users and those with additional support needs. The main reception is to the right of the main entrance and the desk is 110cm high. Registration can be completed whilst seated in one of the nearby public areas and staff can assist with completion of any documentation.
Within the main hotel building, Bovey Castle offers an accessible bedroom on the ground floor with a level entry wet room for guests in a wheelchair or with limited mobility. Twin and double bed combinations can be arranged, the flooring in the bedroom is short pile carpet and there is an emergency alarm with flashing light. The bathroom includes vertical and horizontal grab rails around the shower and non-slip flooring. A disabled toilet is located on the ground floor with non-slip flooring, vertical and horizontal rails either side of the basin and toilet, as well as lever taps on the sink. The toilet is also fitted with an emergency alarm.
Our on-site restaurants (The Great Western and Smith’s Brasserie) all offer menus with large print.
As a dog-friendly hotel, Bovey Castle welcomes dogs into its bedrooms and provisions can be made for an assistance dog to stay in the room.
